Children in Employment

Young people between the ages of 13 and 16 years are permitted to have part-time employment, in accordance with Doncaster Council's Bye-laws. These Bye-laws restrict the hours and the type of employment which can be undertaken.

There are regulations which govern these activities and the Local Authority has to issue a licence permitting a child/young person to be involved in them.

An application must be made for a pupil to be involved in part-time work by the employer.  Parents will be required to complete a medical form. A child issued with an Employment Permit is required to carry the permit at all times.

Further information, including appropriate application forms, is available from the Education Welfare Service using the contact details above
