Local Water for Local Schools

Water in Schools Campaign

Do you want to:

Then drink water regularly through the day!

It is essential that pupils keep hydrated and should be drinking 1.5 to 2 litres of water per day. There is a wealth of scientific data showing that learning is improved when this is the case. As the warmer weather approaches this will become increasingly important.

In our commitment to support the school day and to ensure our pupils have the best chance of success we have reduced the price of a 500ml bottle of water from the present 50p to 35p. All our water has been obtained from a local source, Sutton Spring based near Askern. This move is in line with our ongoing drive to buy local, supporting the local economy and reducing food miles.

Sutton spring has a deep bore hole that taps into an excellent source. The water is high in calcium and magnesium and low in sodium, it filters through the magnesium limestone rock 300ft underground before rising naturally to the surface through an artesian well. It is a fact that Sutton Spring water comes from the same source that once fed the historic Askern Spa.
