Doncaster Council is implementing a restructure to the educational provision for pupils out of school within the Borough. Five of the existing six Pupil Referral Units closed on 31st March 2008 and reopened on 1st April 2008. Funding has been secured to ensure an expansion in the current staffing levels and a 4 year commitment of up to £1.4 million to ensure that the learning environment for these pupils is in line with 21st century educational demands.
The Headteachers will work with the Local authority to shape the future name, ethos, values and educational provision for this group of vulnerable pupils.
The five Pupil Referral Units are:
Key Stage 1 & 2 service (Cusworth Centre)
Key Stage 3 service (Nexus Centre)
Key Stage 4 service (Springboard Centre)
Medical services (Maple Medical Service PRU)
Assessment (Gateway Centre)
