Governors are volunteers.
The strength of the Governing Body lies in working together. Governors do not have powers as individuals, therefore team work is essential.
The Governing Body meets at least once a term, but it may also form committees or working groups to deal with specific issues, (e.g. finance, staffing, curriculum, premises.)
School Govrnors and the headteacher are responsible for the overall educational and financial health of the school and will make decisions about:
Setting and monitoring the school's aims and policies:
Agreeing and monitoring the school's budget;
Appointing staff, including the headteacher;
Ensuring the school premises are maintained and improving the school's environment.
the standards of achievement are raised;
the National Curriculum is taught;
the school provides for all its pupils including those from ethnic minority backgrounds or those with special needs;
the school encourages pupils' spiritual, moral and cultural development.
from the school;
from the Local Education Authority;
from the appropriate Diocesan Authority in the case of a Church School.
