Schools with Nurseries
The following maintained schools in Doncaster have nurseries:
No Age Range Type of School
17 4 - 7 Infant Schools;
55 4 - 11 Infant and Junior Schools (May also be called Primary Schools)
3 3 - 19 Special Schools.
There are three categories of school:
- Community Schools are maintained by the Council. The Council sets the admissions policy and allocates places in accordance with certain criteria.
- Aided Schools are denominational, i.e. Church of England or Roman Catholic. Admission to these schools is controlled by their Governing Body and not the Council.
- Special Schools are maintained by the Council. Admission to these schools is determined by a Statement of Special Educational Needs.
What are Catchment Areas and Pyramids?
Schools are organised in a pyramid system and serve an area of the Borough, normally referred to as a "catchment area". If you wish to know which catchment area you live in you should either contact your local school or Admissions and Pupil Services, telephone (01302) 737234.
No school maintained by the Council admits children on the basis of selection by ability or aptitude. The Council has no arrangements for admitting children to non-maintained or private schools other than children with special educational needs.
How do I obtain further information about schools?
School prospectuses are available free of charge from the school.
For addresses and telephone numbers of schools with nurseries see the schools database in the Schools in Doncaster pages on this site.
A copy of each prospectus is available for inspection (but not removal) at Admissions and Pupil Services, Council House and at the local branch library serving the same area as the school.
