About the e-Learning Portal

It is now easier to access a whole host of different learning facilities thanks to the launch of an innovative e-Learning Portal. The portal has been designed to provide students, parents, teachers, staff and governors with one route to a variety of information, resources and services, all at the click of a mouse.

From the comfort of your computer at home or work, users will benefit from being able to log on using a personal and secure username and password to complete a variety of tasks directly from the e-Learning Portal.

Features available

As a parent -  being able to view your child's attendance record, timetable or even see what homework has been set.

As a student - being able to have access to massive amounts of material to help you get more from your lessons.

As a teacher - being able to set up a personal diary, open chat sessions with other teachers to share experience or knowledge, or view information about school events.

Progress of e-Learning Portal

Tried and tested in a handful of local schools in 2007, with positive results, the e-Learning Portal is now available in all secondary schools across the Borough. It is intended to reach all remaining Doncaster schools by the end of March 2009 - targeting a massive 150,000 users.

Nigel Pattinson, Headteacher at Armthorpe School, said: "The e-Learning Portal provides the capacity for enormous change in the way we communicate with parents and governors, the availability of on-line resources for pupils, and access to management information for teachers. It's an important development in Doncaster's quest for even higher educational standards which will be welcomed by all involved with our students".

The Doncaster e-Learning Portal was demonstrated at the BETT Show (the world's largest educational technology event) at Olympia in London from 9-12 January 2008.
