About Doncaster Education City

DEC logo

Doncaster Education City (DEC) is an 11-19 partnership project between Doncaster Council, the local Learning and Skills Council, Further Education Colleges, training providers and schools.

Doncaster Education City exists to enable every individual in Doncaster to transform their lives through learning. Working in partnership with the Borough’s Leaders, learning providers and employers, our aim is to help create innovative, rewarding ways to learn in education, at work and in life, for all.

History of DEC

Doncaster Education City was formed in 2002 as a project that brought together three strategic partners; Doncaster Council, South Yorkshire Learning and Skills Council and Doncaster College. Our rationale was to forward vocational education across the Borough, as well as to promote the concept of lifelong learning.

Since that time, the understanding of Doncaster Education City as a concept, as well as a strong partnership has developed. The partnership is steadily growing in size and influence with partners firmly believing that by working together, they can make a greater impact on meeting the education, training and employment targets across the Borough.

As a result, Doncaster Education City is now established, within the wider context of the Borough Strategy, as one of the drivers for change. Its aim is to secure a Borough wide understanding of learning, from conception to the grave, as the key to individual self determination and to economic prosperity in Doncaster. Its clear intention is to enable each individual in the community to contribute to, and benefit from, the Borough’s increasing profile and prosperity.
