PROGRAMME CONTENTS 2008 Calendar Year
The Local Authority programme to support Professional Learning (PL) in schools is set out alphabetically under the headings shown below. Within each area there may be four kinds of activity, these are meetings, networks, working groups and training events. Further details of the events in each of the sections below can be found on the Professional Learning Events page (see opposite).
NEWLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS (NQTs)
Whilst NQTs will find much within the main body of the Professional Learning programme that will be relevant to their personal development and to the key priorities of the school, a booklet containing all the training will be provided for all NQTs and their mentors at the start of the school year. The entries included here are for the more general information of Leaders for Professional Learning and headteachers.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
As you will be aware, Workforce Remodelling and subsequently workforce development, is a national initiative whereby the DfES and Local Authorities work closely together to provide a structured programme of development for schools. The programme has its own targets and processes in which schools are invited to be involved in line with an agreed approach by the local authority.
The range of activity, training and consultancy that forms the programme is shown within these pages, but for most training events, access is by invitation or nomination. Further details of the scope of the programme and how you can be involved are available through contacting the relevant Adviser and School Improvement Assistant who have specific knowledge about this area of activity.
