Changes to the Special Educational Needs provision in the Borough

Doncaster Council is implementing an exciting and innovative project to restructure special educational needs provision in the Borough. It is intended that the Borough’s current seven schools will close on 31 August 2008 and five new schools will open on 1 September 2008, including two brand new build schools and the substantial refurbishment and/or extension of three existing school sites.

This extensive project represents an exciting and virtually unique opportunity for the five appointed Headteachers, to work with the Temporary Governing Bodies and Local Authority in the design of the new schools alongside determining their name, ethos, values, staffing structure, resources and services ready for their opening. Whilst the new schools should open in September 2008 the Local Authority are working with the appointed Headteachers to plan for the new schools.

The five new schools are to be named:

Further information about these specific schools are available via the links in the left hand menu.

Headteachers have now been appointed, but details of further vacancies will be made available on www.jobsdoncaster.co.uk .
