The Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP) is an employment-based alternative to the traditional university or college-based teacher training, which enables graduates to train and qualify as teachers while they work in a school in England. 'On-the-job' training is carried out over the course of up to one academic year and is combined with professional duties in the school.
The Doncaster GTP Partnership provides a tailored training programme specifically designed to meet the needs of the trainee. At the end of the GTP training, successful trainees will gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), enabling the trainee teacher to apply for work as a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) in England or Wales.
