Doncaster Schools Fundraising Focus

Doncaster Local Authority has implemented this service to enable Doncaster schools to maximise external funding opportunities. These opportunities range from local, to sub regional, regional, national and Trans-national funding, to support school and community activities.

The service was originally piloted in 2004. Since then, all support has been tailored to meet the needs of Doncaster schools and is delivered by the Local Authority and a private provider. Listed here is a brief summary of services schools can access and information available to them.

Fundraiser Focus Handbook

The handbook was created as a complete guide to fundraising for schools. A copy of the current version (Version 05) was issued to ALL schools in 2005 in a large A4 ringbinder format with section dividers allowing owners to add additional information as they see fit.

Fundraiser Focus Workshops

The workshops form the basis for a practical course for school delegates to attend. There are 3 workshops offerred as a structured course during the school term. Each workshop covers a main theme which are Strategy, Project Development and Bid Writing. The content and format for the workshops are regularly reviewed and the latest format has been structured for a day long workshop.

Grants Knowledgebase

The service is continually working to develop its knowledge of grants/ funders suitable for schools and their communities via local and national sources. It also provides an email service to schools for Grant Newsflashes and Updates. With it's own access to the online database of GrantFINDER, Schools have direct accees to it's subsidiary portal GrantNET.

Help Desk

The HELPDESK can be used by schools to gain advice and guidance in their fundraising activities and project development. Whether its a search for possible funding sources for a project or just starting out with an idea and in need of an overview of what's out there! We could help. We can visit the school to discuss your ideas if needed.

Critical Friend/ Guide

If you are putting together a funding application or a project prior to application, we are happy to take a look/ review it and give you some feedback. While it does not guarantee success we may spot some errors or shortfalls overlooked by the applicants' eye.
