A team of School Cluster Co-ordinators are working across the borough, providing hands on guidance and assistance to support schools in their activities.
Each co-ordinator works with their allocated schools to develop the school's core offer of services for their community needs. This may involve working with local groups, partnerships or specialist service providers.
Schools' extended service activities are included as part of the National Schools' Workforce Remodelling Initiative.
The Extended Schools Remodelling programme is a structured programme aimed at supporting schools acheive the core offer. Doncaster's Team of Extended Service Remodelling Consultants work with schools providing advice and guidance on Management, Staffing and Educational issues, amongst others, as schools develop their activities.
The Study Support Program is designed to promote and support a positive attitude towards learning and self-development amongst children. This can cover a wide range of learning activities outside normal lesson time in which young people participate voluntarily.
This service was implemented to enable Doncaster schools to maximise external funding opportunities. These opportunities range from local, to sub regional, regional, national and Trans-national funding, to support school and community activities.
To assist schools accessing external funding the service provides support by raising awareness, developing skills and providing guidance and advice for Doncaster's schools. By "external" we mean any funding outside the school's core/mainstream budget provided by the government.
The Department for Children, Schools and Families' (DCSF) Playing for Success initiative is establishing out of school hours study support centres at football clubs and other sports’ grounds. The centres use the environment and medium of football, rugby and other sports as motivational tools, and focus on raising literacy, numeracy and ICT standards amongst KS2 and KS3 pupils who are struggling a little and often demotivated.
The Doncaster Playing for Success Centre is based at the KeepMoat Stadium.
Available to schools only, the Library has a wide selection of themes to assist your Study Support activities, all of which are supplied in their own box. Membership is free but you will need to complete and submit a membership form.
