Extended Schools in Doncaster
What is an Extended School?
Extended Schools work with local providers, agencies and other schools to provide access to a core offer of extended services some of which are available beyond normal school hours.
The services offered will depend on the needs of the local community.
The core offer is:
- Wraparound childcare from 8am to 6pm, all year round.
- Parenting support including family learning.
- A varied range of activities including study support, sport and music clubs.
- Swift and Easy referral to specialist services.
- Community access including Adult learning and ICT
What are the Benefits?
There is evidence that extended services can help to:
- Improve pupil attendance, self confidence and motivation, and therefore potential to impact on acheivement.
- Better enable teachers to focus on teaching and learning.
- Enhance children's and families access to services.
