Austerfield Field Study Centre
About the centre
Austerfield Field Study Centre provides first hand experiences in the outside environment, such that children understand and appreciate the inter-relationship of all life, are encouraged to care about the environment and are enabled to make positive decisions that will influence its future upkeep. The centre achieves this by:
- Encouraging and fostering positive attitudes towards the environment
- Providing a stimulating and meaningful learning environment that supports the National Curriculum perspective of Environmental Education as a cross-curricular theme
- Encouraging teamwork and group or individual responsibility wherever this is purposeful and practical
- Creating clearly defined objectives that Centre staff and visitors to the Centre should understand and share, which will provide sound, purposeful educational learning opportunities for all pupils
- Promoting raised awareness of environmental issues in all Doncaster schools
- Provides this service for schools, youth groups, youth associations and four lifelong learning ranges
