The work of Doncaster Youth Service is based upon educational principles focusing on personal development and social education.
Underpinning this is the principal and practice of equality of opportunity for all young people who access the service and the staff who provide it.
Doncaster Youth Service is opposed to all forms of oppression and will actively challenge any discriminatory behaviour or practice.
The Youth Service in Doncaster offers young people (13 - 19 yrs) a wide range of opportunities, challenges, experiences, support and information. As well as enhancing their educational opportunities. The service which is designed to promote equal opportunities amongst all young people, is helping them to develop into adulthood.
Young people can get actively involved through short term or long term projects that bring teams together. Projects can take place almost anywhere and can be cultural, sporting or even environmental - giving young people a chance to become involved in whatever takes their fancy.
The service relies on the voluntary relationship between young people and youth workers to work towards young people developing through participation, effective communication, empowerment and continuous evaluation.
The Youth Service delivers a core curriculum to young people which is both educational and social. It aims to give young people wide, interesting and exciting experiences and challenges to enable them to develop into mature, healthy young adults who can form relationships, make informed decisions and are economically active.
