What is Skills for Life?
Skills for Life is for anyone who wants to improve their skills in literacy, numeracy and language.
Skills for Life programmes aim to:
- Build confidence
- Develop literacy, numeracy and language skills to improve job prospects and raise attainment within work
- Support the family’s learning
- Achieve personal goals
2 hour ‘Getting Started’ courses currently on offer are:
- Adult Literacy Taster – How are your language skills? If you want to get by - and get on - reading and writing skills are essential. Once you've taken that first step you'll wonder what you were worried about
- Adult Numeracy Taster – How are your number skills? Maths is a part of our everyday lives. Knowing the basics will help improve your prospects - and make life a lot easier!
- ESOL Taster – Is English your second language? If English isn't your first language and you'd like to improve your skills, this is the place to start.
12 hour accredited programmes currently on offer are:
- Adult Literacy Entry 3 to Level 2 – A certificate to show skills in using language
- Adult Numeracy Entry 3 to Level 2 – A certificate to show skills in using numbers
- ESOL Entry 3 to Level 1 – A certificate to show your English skills
Tutors work with groups of minimum of 8 learners and each course carries an enrolment fee of £12 per learner, payable at the first session. If you would like to be involved in setting up a Skills for Life project in your area please contact us.
