Children's Rights Services for children and young people in public care
Doncaster Children's Rights Service

In Doncaster we currently have Children’s Rights officers working with Children and Young People In Care (that means people who are in care or those who have ever been in care). We are an independent advocacy service, based in the Safeguarding & Standards Service.
Our job is to advise young people of their rights and to help with any problems they may have.
We have an open referral system, all we ask is that we have the consent of the young person involved.
Please Contact Angie Todd either by email (angie.todd@doncaster.gov.uk), Phone: (01302 735860), Text or call: (07795120625) or write to: Doncaster Childrens Rights, Safeguarding and Standards, Carr House Centre, Danum Road, Doncaster, DN4 5HF.

- Talk to people on their behalf
- Support young people to make a complaint or compliments
- Make sure that young people get answers to their questions
Having Your Say Documents
There are three young people's consultation review documents currently available on this page, they are separated into three age groups. It is really important that these documents are completed by young people before their review takes place.
Other activities

As well as working with young people on an individual basis we also work with groups of young people. We consult with young people on a regular basis and listen very carefully to what they say. We then encourage their Corporate Parents including ourselves to make improvements in services. Listening to young people is central to our work, our mission statement is “Listening to Young Peoples voices, and making sure they are heard”.
Listening to Young peoples voices is not an optional extra it is central to all activities that have a direct impact on Children and young people-individual care planning, developing policies and procedures; and planning and improving services.
Local authorities and individual social work practitioners are required to listen to, consult and seriously consider the views and perspectives of all looked after children and young people.
Children and young people are the experts – they have direct experience of the care system, they know the strengths and weaknesses. We all have a lot to learn from them.
It is everyone’s responsibility to value and uphold Children’s Rights.
