Aiming High for Disabled Children

About the service

Aiming High for Disabled Children Commission short breaks for children and young people with a disability this can range from direct payment support for a personal assistant to overnight residential care. If you feel that your family would benefit from or is in need of a short break you can apply through the Short Break Panel.

Short Break Panel

If you are already receiving social care services from Doncaster Council contact your social worker to discuss applying for a short break. If you are not receiving such a service from Doncaster Council and you believe your disabled child or young person may be eligible for a short break you will need to find a Lead Professional to bring your request to the Short Break panel. Lead Professionals can be any professional that is involved with you family that has had CAF training, for example, health visitors, school staff, children’s centre staff etc. The Lead Professional will complete a Common Assessment framework (CAF) and have a Team Around the child (TAC) meeting and will then refer to the Short Break Panel process.

School Holiday Activity Timetable

The Aiming High Business Unit produces for each school, holiday a School Holiday Activity Timetable to offer extra support. The timetable includes a wide range of activities some where you can drop the child off such as arts and crafts, sports and bowling and others that are family activities such as cinema and theatre.

If you are a member of the Together Information Exchange database you will receive this automatically to your home address. For more information on these activities and to be included on a mailing list to receive details of the different types of organised activities, please contact the service using the details at the top of this web page.
