Doncaster 50 Plus - Older People's Parliament

Doncaster 50 Plus - Older People's Parliament

Doncaster 50 plus logo

Older people living in Doncaster for the last 18 Months have a greater voice with the work of a local 50 plus Parliament. It was designed specifically for older people, with membership consisting of elected members, council employees and diverse communities from their peer group.

These representatives are advisors to elected members of the council and other agencies, both statutory and voluntary, on issues that are important to older people.

Anyone over the age of 50 plus living or working in the borough is eligible to participate in the process, either as a representative or by electing someone from an area by registering as a member of Doncaster 50+.

The new Older People’s Partnership is given a fresh coat of paint in which many new projects will be delivered from November 2011 in response to demographic change and a growing older population.

The management will work very hard to deliver the following outcomes, working in close Partnership with Doncaster Council:

  1. Older people should have sufficient financial security to maintain their quality of life and well-being

  2. Older people should have access to mainstream services

  3. Older people should be healthy and well

  4. Older people should feel safe and supported

  5. Older people should have the opportunity to make a positive contribution.

The 50 + committee is chaired by Bill Morrison. The management committee and its members are a very proactive group with representatives from all Doncasters diverse communities they possess the expertise and knowledge to progress this work.

The 50+ group is now linked to  The Campaign to End Loneliness
