What are the visiting times?

There aren't any restrictions on visiting times, although we would ask families not to sit in the dining room during meal times.

Can residents bring there own furniture in with them?

Residents are encouraged to personalise their own rooms, although any soft furnishings must comply with fire regulations.

How much will it cost?

Individual residents have a financial assessment which determines the cost.

Do the homes have their own laundry?

Yes, everything is washed on the premises.

How do you avoid losing items of clothing when they are washed?

Families are asked to name all items of clothing prior to the resident's admission. If this isn't possible, staff at the home will complete this task.

Can we take our relative\friend out for the day or on holiday?

Yes, we encourage families/friends to continue to have as much contact as they want.

How many staff are on duty?

Staffing ratios are determined by the dependency of the residents in line with the Care Quality Commission's regulations.

What activities are available?

Individual homes have their own activity programmes which are based on the individual's capabilities, for example:
 
Reminiscence groups,
gardening,
painting,
quizzes,
swimming,
life story books etc

Residents also enjoy trips out to the sea side, pubs and theatre. Social evenings with an entertainer are also held within the homes.

Can my relative keep their own Doctor?

Yes, residents are only registered with a new Doctor when their own Doctor refuses to visit because of the location.

Under what circumstances would my relative have to move?

Residents are only re-assessed for a move of establishment if the current home can no longer meet their needs.

Can residents smoke when they are admitted into residential care?

Yes, all establishments have allocated rooms for smokers.

Will my relative have access to a telephone?

Yes, homes have mobile phones which can be used by residents. Alternatively residents can have their own telephones installed into their own bedrooms, although they would have to pay for this themselves.

Do you allow pets?

This is for the individual homes to decide, depending on what pets they already have. Most homes have a cat.

Do you have a visiting hairdresser?

Yes, unless residents/families want to make alternative arrangements.

Do you cater for specialised diets?

Yes, whether it be for medical or cultural reasons we cater for individuals needs.
