How can I be referred?
By telephoning Doncaster Alcohol Services you can refer yourself to the service or a referral can be made on your behalf, with your consent, by a professional.
Appointments can be made day or evening to suit. However, there is a 'drop in' on Tuesdays 9.30am - 12.30pm where no appointment is necessary. This is often the quickest way to be seen.
There is also an opportunity to 'drop in' between Monday- Friday between the hours of 10.30am - noon. This would give you the opportunity to meet some of the project workers and clients: whilst enjoying a light refreshment of tea or coffee. This opportunity could enable you to discuss some of your issues with the project workers and may put in perspective the issues that you face.
Accessing this 'drop in' service may help you to come to a decision as to whether you wanted to be referred to this service or not.
What happens after the referral?
An assessment of your care needs will take place, usually lasting approximately 1 hour, where a package of service is agreed to be implemented. The package of service could, depending on assessed need, include counselling, one to one work, relapse prevention, brief intervention, residential projects and complimentary therapies. In addition, options about group activities, group work, days away etc will be discussed.
