The Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham Strategic Waste Management Plan consultation builds on previous consultation undertaken earlier in the year. The aim of the consultation is to develop policies and identify the sites for future waste management facilities. Exhibitions and surveys, including an on-line survey, will be used to gather the views of citizens.

The area around St. George's Minster was designated a conservation area in 1997. A Conservation Area is an "area of special architectural or historic interest, the character of which is desirable to preserve or enhance".
As part of the Council’s programme to review all 46 Conservation Areas that lie within the Borough, Doncaster - St. George’s Conservation Area has been assessed and a draft appraisal, including management proposals, has been compiled. The appraisal sets out what is special about the Doncaster - St. George’s Conservation Area and will also be used to guide planning decisions in the area. The management proposals give suggestions on how the uniqueness can be preserved and/or enhanced.

The consultation will focus on housing and environmental improvements. The views of residents and businesses will be gathered via public meetings and exhibitions and will inform the masterplan for the future development of Askern.

The town centre forum will be concerned with the content of the Borough's new Local Development Framework and the associated town centre action plan. After this, the forum may consider a wider range of live issues affecting the town centre and act as a sounding board for the Neighbourhood team and other Council departments.

Doncaster's Place Survey is a statutory consultation that asks approximately 6,000 households how they feel about their local area, the services provided and improvements needed. The survey is being undertaken on behalf of the Council by Ipsos MORI and the questionnaire was sent out during late September to 6,000 households chosen at random. It is important to note that not every household will receive a copy of the survey.
The survey includes questions about your local public services, (not just those of the Council) Community safety, and your participation in the local decision-making processes. The findings from the survey will be used to see how well the Council and local organisations, such as, the police and health are doing at delivering services that matter to you and to help decide what needs to be done differently in the future.

An on-site survey of visitors to the museum will be carried out over the summer to gather the views of citizens on the services provided by the Museum and Art Gallery. This postal survey sought feedback from the parents of service users on the Pupil Support and Transport team, contractors, vehicles, and escorts. This will be used to gauge satisfaction with the service and identify any changes needed.

The Public Rights of Way Forum is open to anyone with an interest in rights of way. We would especially welcome landowners and tenants to the Forum as representatives from these groups are currently under-represented.

Residents and specifically children and young people were consulted on the type of play provision they would like to see at three sites in Bessacarr. The sites are at Haslam Park, Bolton Hills, and West Bessacarr. Views were gathered by post, public meetings and face to face interviews.

The Audit Commission undertook consultation with people using Customer Service Centres in Mexborough and Toll Bar. The face to face interviews focused on how effective service users believe neighbourhood management has been in improving the Council's services.
The Interviews took place on Monday 21st April 2008.

Since October 2007 the Council and its partners have been consulting on the priorities that they will concentrate on over the next few years to improve the lives of residents.
The feedback received has been used to develop a revised set of shared priorities for Doncaster.
All key stakeholders have contributed to the discussions, including the Council's partners in health, the police, the Fire Authority, voluntary and community sector, as well as members of the public, local businesses and community groups.
The Local Area Agreement (LAA) brings together Doncaster-wide priorities that matter to local people – for example improving the environment, improving the safety of children, improving life expectancy, and creating new jobs.

The Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act 2006 requires local authorities to consider issues relating to the conservation of biodiversity. This document will contribute towards complying with this and facilitate the appropriate management of locally important sites.

This was the first of three consultation stages in the production of a statutory planning document. The document identified a limited number of sites for strategic waste facilities across Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham. This first stage did not propose any draft policies or sites, instead it asked questions.

This consultation will assess the supply and demand for childcare in Doncaster and the data collected will be used to help plan future childcare. The results of the consultation will be fed into the final CSA report which will be used by the Service when planning future need for childcare.

The Building Schools for the Future consultation is an opportunity for citizens to have their say on the Mayor’s White Paper “Achieving Success - Building Schools for the Future", which outlines future options for every school in Doncaster. BSF will see an estimated £200m invested in Doncaster's schools; transforming education and opening up a wealth of opportunities for the whole Borough.

Please note this was just the first step in the consultation process and there will be more opportunities to have your say as the programme progresses. A range of consultation activity will be taking place over the forthcoming months, including the establishment of a high level BSF forum which will include Councillors, teachers and governors, and a BSF group in each school featuring pupils, parents and staff.
