Introduction

The Local Development Framework (LDF) will form part of the statutory development plan for Doncaster. The development plan informs decisions on planning applications and a range of implementation plans. It will include a Core Strategy, which sets out the broad approach, and other Development Plan Documents that allocate sites (and which collectively form the Proposals Map). Further detail on individual policies is provided in separate Supplementary Planning Documents.

The LDF will replace the existing Unitary Development Plan (UDP).

An interactive map is available showing UDP housing and employment allocations which have not yet been developed, along with representations made so far for potential housing and employment allocations through the LDF process.

Local Development Scheme

The Local Development Scheme was adopted in November 2010. It sets out what documents will be produced when (including the subject matter and the geographic area to which each document will relate), as summarised below:

Core Strategy DPD: Publication - March 2011; Submission - June 2011; Adoption - January 2012.

Note: The Core Strategy was submitted to government on the 29th July 2011. This has now been found sound at Examination In Public and it is anticipated it will be Adopted during Summer 2012. The Proposed Adoption version of the Core Strategy (Appendix 3) has the final list of which UDP Saved Policies the strategy is intended to replace, which supercedes the list in the Local Development Scheme.

Allocations DPD: Consultation on Preferred Options - July 2011; Publication - March 2011; submission - June 2012; Adoption - January 2013

Note: the approach to the Allocations DPD is being reviewed in light of the Localism Bill, and in particular the potential role of Neighbourhood Planning. The scope and timescale for this work will therefore be subject to change, however we intend to carry out public consultation in 2012.

Joint Waste Plan DPD: Publication - November 2010; Submission - January 2011; Adoption - January 2012.

Note: The Joint Waste Plan (Core Strategy) was submitted to government on the 29th July 2011. More details of the next stage is available at Examination In Public. The Submission version of the Core Strategy (Appendix D) has the final list of which UDP Saved Policies the strategy is intended to replace, which supercedes the list in the Local Development Scheme.

Statement of Community Involvement

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) was adopted in November 2006 and sets out how and when the Council will involve the community and stakeholders in relation to the Doncaster LDF and in determining planning applications. The SCI should be read in conjunction with the Local Development Scheme (LDS) as the list of LDF documents listed in Chapter 2 and Appendix 4 of the SCI may change as the LDS is reviewed as required. However the principles and methods set out in the SCI are still relevant for each Development Plan Document.

Consultation comments for the LDF can now be made and viewed via public access.
