Memorabilia Regulations

Doncaster Council is currently reviewing all regulations which apply to memorabilia placed in the Crematorium and Cemetery grounds.

Over a number of years there has been an increase in the number and types of memorabilia being placed on graves and plots. While it is accepted that these can be a comforting way to remember family members and friends unfortunately some of these have caused accidents to visitors to the grounds and there have also been an increase in complaints from some families about the amount of memorabilia from some plots encroaching onto their families plots.

It is in response to these issues and complaints that it has been necessary to revise the policy, while aiming to accommodate the needs of all the bereaved.  The new policy makes it clear what is and is not permitted and provides a guide for families about what they can put on their loved one’s grave or plot.

Notice boards are placed within the grounds informing families as to what memorabilia is permitted. Unfortunately any items left on the memorial that do not fit the criteria of what is permitted these will be removed.

If you require any further information about this policy please do not hesitate to contact Bereavement Services on Telephone number 01302 535191.
