A licence is required to trade as a Motor Salvage Operator (breaking up of a vehicle in order to sell salvaged parts).
If you deal in other forms of scrap metal you may require to be registered as a Scrap Metal Dealer.

What is the process?
The local authority consults with South Yorkshire Police before the granting of this licence.
How long does the process take?
The outcome of your application will be determined within 14 days of receiving comments from South Yorkshire Police.
How long is it valid?
The licence shall remain in effect for a period of 3 years from the date of issue.
How much does it cost?
The fee for New or Renewal registrations is £90.00
